Wellcome Collection
Sure you’ve got all the really well-known museums in London that all the tourists cram into everyday. But there are some more under-the-radar beauts that really deserve your attention. Like the Wellcome Collection. Showcasing a more eccentric set of permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions this museum and library has got so many fascinating nooks and crannies that you can lose hours exploring.
.
The primary collection originally came from Sir Henry Wellcome as he amassed a huge collection of books, paintings and historical objects of medical, sexual and environmental nature. Highlights include a Black Madonna painting, Napoleon’s toothbrush and Shinto and Buddhist shrines. Additionally they have a year-round set of exhibitions that you shouldn’t miss, from an exploration of our relationship with air, a meditative reflection on the world of plants and fungi, and a climate crisis festival.
