We recently returned from a fantastic trip to Oslo, where sauna culture is huge. All Norwegians love to sauna. And we are now absolute converts to the sauna life too. The difficulty here in London is that saunas (and spas) are not the most affordable.
Islington is definitely the prime centre of London’s gastropub scene right now, with the likes of The Pig & Butcher and The Drapers Arms leading the way to show the rest of the city how to do pub food. And, after a recent renovation, The Baring is pushing those boundaries again with a gorgeous reinvention serving some fantastic dishes.
Who doesn’t enjoy getting a bit of creativity into their lives? Get those juices flowing at cone8, a lovely little pottery studio in the quieter recesses of Hackney Wick. Some might say it’s the perfect aperitif ahead of an awesome night out across the canal in the busier areas of The Wick.
Fire-obsessed culinary geniuses Acme Fire Cult have brought the heat to Dalston where they have set up sticks right next to (and in collaboration with) 40ft Brewery with their very first permanent location. Taking a leaf out of the very best BBQ techniques around and mixing in some interesting high-end flavours and ingredients, this is a really left-field experience.
‘Tis the season! And you know what that means? ALLLLLLL the amazing foods to eat to your heart’s (and stomach’s) content. No guilt trips, no salads, just indulgence to the max. You’ve got a free pass! So to celebrate we headed over to crowd favourite The Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch for their newly released xmas burger, inspired by the best xmas movie ever - yes, you guessed it, Die Hard!
It’s not often that theatre can leave us speechless but this year My Neighbour Totoro has achieved just that. We were left with a huge smile on our face and created some beautiful core memories.
Regent’s Park is one of London’s most gorgeous, tranquil and charming parks. Whether it’s full-blown sunshine summertime or a sparkling frosty winter’s day, this is a fantastic place for a long leisurely walk. And the perfect spot to pause for a rest stop along your way is the new Waterside Café, in prime place right by the boating lake.
London’s latest new-fangled design district has finally opened and we’ve been down there to check it out. Centred around the gorgeously decadent Battersea Power Station it’s not just the inside of this beautiful building that has been refurbished, but the entire surrounding area.
