10. La Chingada
Keeping things as traditionally Mexican as you will find in London, this Mexican restaurant (with two locations based in Euston and Surrey Quays) has one helluva traditional, passionate, authentic vibe. It’s like we’re sitting on the beach in Tulum, shades on, sun’s out, feet up, margarita (or two) in hand, and tacos everywhere.
Tacos al Pastor, de Carnitas, and Baja Prawn - all stunning, all delicious. But also save space for their Burritos (the house special is amazing), Chicken Tostadas, loaded Nachos, Mushroom Quesadillas and Chicharrones. Get there hungry cos you’ll be leaving full. Full happiness. And tacos.

9. Cavita
Cavita does things a little bit differently to most Mexican restaurants. Avoiding the standard cheap & cheerful taco tequila combo, we instead get the highest standard of Michelin-star Mexican cuisine. The whole experience from when you step through the door is gorgeous. And yes there are tacos, but there’s so much more. Ceviche, sea-bass, carne asada, frijolitos. This is the real Mexico. The food is so simple yet so unabashedly flavoursome it’s mindboggling.
Chef Adriana Cavita is the mastermind behind this beautiful restaurant - we’d very much recommend stashing that name away in your mind as we’ll be seeing stunning food from her for years to come.

8. La Bodega Negra
In the heart of Soho, you’ll find a dubious looking set of neon peep show doors that’ll take you doors some stairs into what can surely only be a BDSM sex dungeon based on the strange mannequins adorning the entrance. But never fear, this is actually one helluva restaurant, that does insane food & drinks, banging tunes, and never takes itself seriously.
Tacos, tacos, and more tacos, is of course the way to go for food. Prawn & pineapple in one hand, fish & avocado in the other, we’re happy. And for drinks? It’s Margarita O’Clock. Yes sir. All day long, every day. Heavy salt rim. Generous tequila pours. Dash of triple sec. The freshest of limes. Ice cold on the rocks. Whisk us away to Mexico. Variations are available, but in our humble opinion the house always wins.

7. KOL
Bringing together the best of two worlds, KOL pairs authentic Mexican flavours with sustainable British ingredients to create absolutely gorgeous dishes, both in how they look as well as how they taste. Everything about this restaurant has been thought through to the smallest detail, from the beautiful decor to the attentive staff. But the food, well that’s what we’re here for, and you’ll struggle to find anything better in any Michelin-starred restaurant in London.
You might find normal traditional dishes, like langoustines & sea bucktorn tacos and pear & scallop ceviche, or somewhat more unusual dishes like peas & hawthorn blossoms nicoatole and wagyu huarache. Whatever you pick it’ll be an amazing feast.

6. Del74
No nonsense taco joint Del74 on Kingsland Road doesn’t mess about. Get over there, get yourself some tacos, enjoy life, that is it. They’ve got Tacos for day: Cochinita Pibil, Tilapia topped with coleslaw, Barbacoa, Pork Ribeye (with pico de gallo), Steak and much much more. And on top of that they’ve got Brisket Tostadas, Smokey Jack Fruit Quesadillas, and heavy-loaded Nachos. Winning.
It’s Taco Tuesday here every day of the week! But especially on Tuesday when it’s actually Taco Tuesday meaning it’s £3 tacos all night long! Yes please! Oh and throw in one of those Happy Margarita jugs, cos of course I want that in my life.

5. Bad Manners
This hidden away little kiosk in the gardens of a church in Hackney doesn’t seem like it should be bringing some of the very best Mexican food to the London scene. But you would be very very wrong. Only doing breakfast and lunch this is one for a long weekend stroll that wins you a fabulous meal at the end.
The menu is ever-changing so no recommendations to offer but in all honesty everything is stunning so you can’t go far wrong. Recent winners include their Chilorio Burritos (with extra doritos), Spam Tacos (yes very much yes don’t doubt us), Crispy Pigs Ear Salad, their summer BBQ platters, and anything from their Decatur collab. Oh yes.

4. Santo Remedio
London is not shy of an amazing Mexican restaurant but even with so much choice, Santo Remedio continues to shine. In large part due to their love of Mexico and everything around it stands for. As part of the Slow Food movement, they are using proper traditional cooking techniques with authentic ingredients that are in danger of being lost forever. So you know you’re in for a treat when you tuck into your Soft Shell Crab or Grilled Chicken Tamarind Tacos.
Plus we haven’t even mentioned their amazing selection of tequilas and mezcals. What a lovely segway to talk about Santo Remedio’s perfect margaritas; whether you want the traditional De La Casa one, the fragrant Hibiscus Flower one, the tropical Coconut one, or the spicy Mezcal, you’re in luck cos they’re all amazing. We actually suggest trying all four. It’s the only way to go!

3. Corrochio’s
Straight from Guadalajara to Dalston you’ll find some of the best tasting food at Corrochio’s. Whether your eating in their more intimate Cocina, or partying it up in their more party-style Cantina (with their late night DJs), the locations are fantastic and definitely a little pocket of Mexico in East London.
Take advantage of their Mexican Brunch at the weekends, or their Taco Tuesdays, where you can have all the Margs your heart desires. Kick off with some vampiros, and pile up the tostadas, enchiladas, tacos, and huaraches (ie Mexican flatbreads). Every bite is full of flavours and worth every penny.

2. Sonora Taquería
The sun's out. Spirits are high. You're wandering around London enjoying the spring air, ready for some food before getting on the drinks. Well it's all about the wonderful world of Sonora. The food here is as authentic as it gets. And it's not just the quality of the tacos and quesadillas, it's the variety. Try the Asada taco (grilled beef so soft) which is so different from the Barbacoa (slow cooked beef) which is also it's own thing against the Caramelo (also grilled beef but with loadsa cheese n beans).
Same story with the quesadillas. And if we can be a bit controversial we might even prefer the quesadillas to the tacos. It's a tough decision. We wake up dreaming about both of them. But one thing's for certain, life will be better if you add a cheese crust as well, trust us, mmm mmm mmm...

1. Homies on Donkeys
What can we say about this place? Having recently moved into their first proper brick & mortar location in Leytonstone they are going from strength to strength. Well-known for basically winning any culinary competition they entered, and for consistently having lines right out their door, this taco haven is one of the very best food experiences you’ll have in London.
Top three tacos on the menu right now are the Camaron Enchilado (king prawns delight!), the Bone Marrow and Braised Chuck (so so moreish), and the Chicken Barbacoa (secret spice mix yes please). And that’s not even mentioning the weekly specials that consistently blow our minds.
