The 15 best food experiences on THE 100 LIST:
Our other tried, tested and approved RECOMMENDATIONS for all things food:
Islington is definitely the prime centre of London’s gastropub scene right now, with the likes of The Pig & Butcher and The Drapers Arms leading the way to show the rest of the city how to do pub food. And, after a recent renovation, The Baring is pushing those boundaries again with a gorgeous reinvention serving some fantastic dishes.
Cadet is the brand new wine bar kitchen from the brilliant mind of Tom Beattie, previously of P Franco fame.
Tooting has long flown under the radar for most Londoners as a proper no nonsense place to hang on. No airs or graces here, just good people having a good time.
New kid on the block Tom’s Pasta has shown us how good a plate of pasta really can be. Located in Hackney Down Studios, where all the trendy people are hanging out nowadays, is this no nonsense ode to Italian cuisine.
After leaving Gavin La Chapelle in 2015 Gabriel Waterhouse had a dream to open his own restaurant so decided to start putting on supperclub experiences while he set this idea in motion.
Vinegar Yard is one of London’s best street food markets. In the summer their huge outdoor area is the perfect place to soak up the rays and in the winter they cover up with tents and heating so it becomes the perfect place to cosy up and stay warm.
If we could only have one meal at The London 100 for the rest of our lives it would be a very difficult decision but chances are ramen would be right up there. And Supa Ya Ramen is one of the finest purveyors of ramen that you can find in London.
“Gelupo makes the finest Gelato in the heart of London.” Too right.
Sometimes we just want a big ol’ hug of comfort food for dinner. And when that’s the case we tend to head straight for Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden.
In the heart of Soho stands one of Soho House’s most established venues, Dean Street Townhouse. This magnificent Georgian building is home to one of our favourite indulgent brunch spots in London.
As far as unusual London experiences go, this one probably sits pretty high up on the list. How would you feel about a classy French bistro meal, the perfect date night, except it’s completely in the dark.
This French bistro in Bermondsey will whisk you away to a Paris dreamland for some amazing cuisine.
The Barbary in Neal's Yard has long been one of the best restaurants in London. To my welcome surprise they brewed up a new concept during lockdown and opened up The Barbary Next Door.
Supremely cosy nook in the heart of Soho that always tries to mix modernity with tradition.
First things first, there are not enough good Portuguese restaurants in London. But Bar Douro ensures that the top tier has a strong contender.
If you want some of the best Indian food in the UK it’ll be hard to find any better than Dishoom.
Seven Dials is already one of the best areas in Central London to hit if you want amazing places that aren’t tourist traps. And life gets better because of Seven Dials Market.
Food, Glorious Food! Even people living right now in Rome will not have seen as much amazing Italian food all in one place as can be found at Eataly.
Welcome to my new favourite place in London. Honestly, @fillybrook is such a dream of a place. I arrived at opening just to have a quick drink and left 8 hours later. The atmosphere, the drinks, the food, the people, the music, wait where do I start?!
The sun's out. Spirits are high. You're wandering around London Fields enjoying the spring air, ready for some food before getting on the drinks. Well it's all about Netil Market and specifically the wonderful world of @sonora.ldn.
When you go to a new street food venue it's difficult to know where to try first. A tried and tested technique is to follow the queues. Wisdom of the masses and all that jazz. So it's pretty obvious when you rock up at @netilmarket that the place you must try beyond a shadow of a doubt is @pockets_uk.
And the winner for most random evening out in London goes to.... duuu-dun-dunnnnnn... Supperclub.Tube! You will find this unique experience in the heart of Walthamstow. In the eclectic Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum. In a decommissioned 1967 Victoria Line tube carriage. For a supperclub serving Latin American cuisine. Yeah. Super random. But oh so fun!
