Le Beaujolais
Hidden French wine treasure.
Ever feel like spending an evening in France but don’t want the hassle of getting on the Eurostar? Le Beaujolais is the answer. This brilliant little bar is hidden away off Charing Cross Road on a small street. From the outside it seems like an innocuous hole in the wall but once inside you are greeted with all the splendour of France. It has what the French might call a little bit of I-don’t-know-what.
It’s the walls cluttered with old posters. It’s the hundreds of ties hanging from the ceiling. It’s the rickety old chairs and tables. It’s the staff who seemingly don’t speak English. And most importantly it’s the brilliant French wine menu. Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Muscadet, Sancerre, Merlot, Cotes du Rhone. You could spend a whole week here and still be trying new fantastic wines.
Tip of the day: Do yourself a favour and order one of their delicious cheese platters as this will perfectly pair with the seventeen different wines you’ll be drinking across the evening ;)
