Stunning Peckham sake brewery.
Now I may be biased but my favourite country in the world is Japan. And nowhere is more stunning than Takayama, Japan’s sake capital. So I was extremely excited to visit Peckham’s very own sake brewery, Kanpai. And I was not disappointed. A great set up with plenty of outdoor seating. Beautiful Japanese murals and artwork inside and out. An Osaka street food kitchen. It just gets better and better.
And the sakes are delicious. This might be a London project, but the techniques for brewing their sake are still traditionally Japanese. If you aren’t a sake expert then feel free to chat to the staff as they are all knowledgeable and super happy to talk your ear off about all the different types of sake available here.
Hint of the day: You can just get a glass of sake. You can ask for a highball if you want to ease yourself in with a cocktail. But the best you can do is to order a sake flight and taste all the colours of the rainbow. Oh and on the way out do yourself a favour and grab a bottle from their bottle shop to take home too. It’ll always come in very handy!
