Down a tiny flight of stairs at a door with no sign, you’d be hard-pressed to know anything was down here. But SOMA is one of the very best bars in London right now. Once inside, you will find what feels like an escape into another world. Black curtains everywhere, dim lighting setting the mood, and an enormous steel table in the centre of the room that everyone is sitting around, and making drinks at.
But what makes this place exceptional are the staff. They are attentive, fascinating to talk to, and are masters of their profession. Every drink on their cocktail menu is a hit, but even if you veer off it after a lengthy discussion with the staff, you can be sure you’re going to get exactly what you need and want. And that is one of the very best damn cocktails in London.
Tip of the day: Although you can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu, TL100’s favourite is the Banana. Made from discarded banana rum, acidified banana skin, Indian spices and cocoa, you are in for an absolute treat here.
